Preparation & workmanship
Every piece is designed for the space it lives in — measured on site, built to the room's exact dimensions and finished to complement the surrounding decoration. The result is fitted joinery that looks like it was always meant to be there.
Who it's for
Made-to-measure joinery makes the most sense where standard furniture simply cannot fit — which, in older London and Surrey housing, is most of the time.

How the process works
Bespoke work is a design process as well as a build, so we take it in stages.

Survey and design consultation
We visit, take detailed measurements — including how far out of square the walls and floors run — and talk through what the piece needs to hold, how you want it to open and which style of door, moulding and handle suits the room.
- 02
Making and preparation
Components are cut and made to your dimensions, and the room is protected before anything is brought in. Existing skirting, cornice or flooring is dealt with carefully so the new joinery can sit tight against the walls.

Installation
Carcasses are scribed and levelled to the space, fixed securely and adjusted so doors and drawers line through with even shadow gaps. Lighting and cable routes are set in at this stage rather than added as an afterthought.

Finishing and handover
Joints are filled and caulked, surfaces sanded and the piece painted or stained to match the surrounding decoration — one of the advantages of using a decorating firm for joinery. Hardware is fitted and adjusted, and we clean up and take the offcuts with us.

We work across Battersea, Putney, Wandsworth and Clapham, and through Weybridge, Oxshott, Claygate and Byfleet. Alcove and eaves storage is largely a Victorian-house problem, while walk-in wardrobes and media walls suit larger, newer rooms — either way everything is measured and fitted on site rather than ordered to a standard size, which is what makes an awkward chimney breast or a sloping ceiling workable. Frequently asked questions
How long does a fitted project take?
There is a lead time between survey and installation while the components are made, and the fit itself usually runs from a couple of days for alcove shelving to a week or more for a walk-in wardrobe or full media wall, including painting. We confirm both dates with the quotation.
Can you match existing skirting, doors and mouldings?
Yes. Matching the existing profiles is a large part of making new joinery look original, so we take a profile from your skirting, architrave or doors and specify mouldings that continue the same lines through the room.
Do you paint the joinery as well as build it?
We do, and it is one of the reasons clients come to us for both. The same team that decorates the room finishes the woodwork, so the colour, sheen and standard of finish match rather than being handled by two separate trades.
Can you build around sloping ceilings and pipework?
That is exactly where bespoke earns its keep. Eaves cupboards, angled door panels, boxed-in pipework and units scribed to uneven walls are routine parts of the work, and we set them out at survey so there are no surprises on fitting day.
What affects the quotation for bespoke carpentry?
The size and complexity of the piece, the materials and door style, the amount of internal fit-out such as drawers, rails and shelving, whether lighting is integrated, how straightforward access is and the finish you choose. We survey and design first, then quote in writing at no charge.
